Single or Taken - What To Eat On Valentine's Day

FOOD is my love language…

Whether it’s for myself, girlfriends, or my hubby being able to create something worth eating is incredibly rewarding. It actually excites me to look into my fridge and just gather a bunch of ingredients together and see what happens. Is there like a top chef for that?

I love holidays because it gives you an excuse to try that extra difficult meal you’ve been eyeing from Julia Child’s cook book. If that’s over your head, don’t worry because your girl has got your back. I’ve gathered some of my favorite recipes that are easy enough to cook on Thursday (Hello Cupid, do you mind? Some of us work tomorrow!) and impressive enough to feel like it’s not just any Thursday.

This one is probably hands down one of my favorite meals. For me, nothing says I love you more than a steak cooked to perfection with a nice glass of red wine. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Don’t worry, I’ll put my wine reccos at the end of this post. You can’t get a better tutorial than the one I have here from Chef Michael Gaspard who is the head chef at Pappas Steakhouse in Houston. If there’s one thing Texans do right, it’s their steaks!

If you want to cook something to really impress the apple of your eye, this is the dish! Mussels aren’t usually cooked at home on the regular. I don’t know why because they are SO easy! Also, they are an aphrodisiac so it fits in with the whole theme of Valentine’s Day, not to mention they won’t give you a bloat if you’re planning to provide a dinner and a show. Pair this with a white wine and the paleo bread mentioned in the video and it will be a showstopper.

For dessert, keep it simple. Chocolate chip cookies are a fail-proof treat. They’re a classic! You can make them the night before, freeze them, throw them in the oven while you’re eating so they’re ready when you’re done eating. Pair it with some vanilla ice cream and you’ve just got fancy AF.

If all of this seems too exhausting or you just don’t feel like it, there ain’t no shame in ordering in. You can always order a heart shaped pizza from Papa Johns or Pizza Hut.
