How To Stay Covid-Free This Holiday Season
Home for the holidays…
will look a little different this year, if you’re even going home. Whether you’re going home or staying local, ain’t nobody got time for the ‘rona. So here are a few things I’m doing to stay safe, healthy, and sane this holiday season.
Talking it out
Everyone’s comfort level is different right now. If some family or friends don’t make it home for the holidays or come and see you, it’s ok. You have to respect where everyone is at and without any judgement. So talk it out with an open mind, respect their boundaries, and just let them know you love them no matter what.
Testing
If everyone gets tested, and they all come back negative, then there are no problems. So I cannot stress this enough, get tested! Tests are way more accessible these days. You can get one at your local Walgreens/CVS, doctor’s office, or you can do one from home. Most of the time, it is covered by your health insurance. If you’re flying, I strongly suggest taking one before you get on your flight and take one when you land. Yes, that’s four tests. I’m telling you, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Plus, you get the results back within 24-72 hours. If you’re driving, I suggest you take one before you leave and see everyone. In addition to the testing, quarantining is just as important. Before you get your results, quarantine. And if you can, quarantine before you leave to keep the negative results. It will just eliminate any added stress and you can really enjoy being home. My whole family has agreed to take a test and share their results before seeing each other, which is nothing in the comparison to getting to spend time with loved ones.
Face Masks
Wear them. And wear them properly. Mouth in, nose in. We know face masks help stop the spread of COVID, just like colds in general, so just wear them. Protect yourself and everyone around you. It’s the courteous and nice thing to do, it’s the holidays for goodness sake. Also, there are so many cute face masks out these days and accessories to go with them. My favorites come from Gotta Have Face.
Wash your hands, sanitize, get tested, wear a mask, and be respectful of everyone’s boundaries. It’s important that we all come together as a community to have a safe and healthy holiday season.
